The Great Taste Awards is known in the UK as the ‘Oscars of the Food World’ so, while we at Righteous personally love the taste of our dressings, we thought we should put them to the test and enter them into the 2010 Great Taste Awards competition. This is a nationwide competition with hundreds of entrees ranging from small start up food businesses like ourselves, to big food companies and food labels of professional chefs.
We waited 8 long weeks for the results to come out – but didn’t want to get too excited as we knew that we were up against some tough competition. I can never forget the day we found out about the results – I was in hospital, as we had just welcomed our baby girl (our first!) into the world 2 days before – when I thought I should go on to the internet via my mobile phone to find out about the results. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that our Ginger & Toasted Sesame Dressing was picked as one of three, ‘gold star winners’ for salad dressings! We were ecstatic! This was the second piece of good news that weekend (only to be trumped obviously by the newest addition to our family). I chuckled, gave myself a pat on the back, and fell asleep.
