It was very exciting to get the opportunity to do our very first print ad with Weight Watchers Magazine.
The Weight Watchers editorial team was sympathetic to our plight as a small start-up business and understood that we barely had any advertising budget to speak of. But they loved our salad dressings and thought it was a product their readers would be interested in – so they offered us a fantastic opportunity for a full page advertisement in their big summer issue at only a fraction of the usual price.
We decided that it was worth the investment (which, although small in the publishing world, was still big bucks to us!) because Weight Watchers had one of the highest readerships nationwide – almost 1 million! And we knew that Weightwatchers readers would be our target market so we knew that if the advert was interesting enough, it would catch their attention.
So we decided to do an advert that was a bit cheeky – playing with the idea of ‘sexy’ as this was something that fit the magazine and fit the season (summer being prime beachwear season).
We had fantastic feedback on the advert & hope that it’s brought a bit more awareness to our little brand!
