Paphitis The Magic Dragon
Team Harris (my husband, the little bubba and I) were en route home on the bus on Sunday when I decided to check out Twitter. At that very moment the lovely Theo Paphitis, who most of you know from the uber famous TV show Dragon’s Den, tweeted “Less then 10 mins left for SBS, tweet me your business and I will retweet my Fav 6” I immediately began clicking madly away on my blackberry, then looked up to see my husband looking strangely at me with one eyebrow raised. I muttered something inaudible and looked out the window too embarrassed to say that I was hoping to be chosen from Mr. Paphitis’ 121,499 strong twitter following to be one of the lucky 6 businesses!
Then the results started coming in. I counted one… two… three… four… five businesses mentioned and gave up hope that that one last place was ours. I walked over to my husband on the couch and sat down, slightly deflated as one does when things don’t go as you hope, when my blackberry started ping-ing away. I ran to it and saw dozens of well wishes and congratulations from Tweeps following the competition. We actually made it!!!
Thanks to Theo Paphitis and his effort at helping put small businesses on the map. We now have over a hundred followers (not bad if you started with next to none!) Here’s hoping that this little twitter power shout out into cyberspace will bring back some good juju for the business!
